Any successful online business will either be INCREDIBLY lucky and will have inherited domains like health.co.uk or money.co.uk, or most likely they will have ensured some careful planning, a sound business and marketing plan and a bouyant vertical market in which to practice and develop your business. Depending on which vertical market you specialise in, success will be very dependent on a wide range of factors, not including those above.
Marketing your site and therefore your business is a skillful and time-consuming exercise if you want to ensure that you are doing it properly. Marketing online may include PFI (Pay For Inclusion), PPC (Pay Per Click), CPA (Cost Per Application, banners, text ads, sponsorship of associated sites and much much more. The first step is to get to grips with all the acronymns!
As part of any web marketing plan, as well as your 'advertising spend', SEO and SERPS results will be an area that you will concentrate on. There are many companies out there that can help you with this - but be very wary of cowboys (as there are loads of those!). You must ensure that all your marketing provides good ROI (Return on Investment) against ad spend - otherwise you will soon find yourself with no business at all.
Where to market myself?
As well a pure online marketing strategy, consider other forms of advertising or PR - both off and online. Using affiliate marketing programmes or even email or SMS campaigns can, in the right vein and to the right audience, provide higher returns in terms of response and spend than PPC or Affiliate campaigns.

So in essence we believe that there are many things that you will need to conisder in order to run a successful online marketing campaign.
